Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?
o APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:

1- In (Vs 1-8) we really focused on the attitude that God wants us to give and serve Him.
“Not grudgingly, but out of a cheerful heart”. Have you ever been tempted to serve the
Lord with a grudging heart? Why or why not after listening to our study on
(2Corinthians 9:7). Do you see serving the Lord as a obligation or a privilege?

2- In (Vs 8-10) we discussed how that when we give, “God supplies.” Have you ever had
God show you what He wanted you to do and allowed “human reasoning and math”
keep you from obeying? What did we learn in this that would change the way you walk
this out.

3- In (Vs 11-14) we see that the Corinthians giving would bring praise and “glory to God”.
In What ways can our giving take away from the glory of God, and what does it look like
to give Glory to God in giving without being weird or hyperspiritual? NOTE (Matthew
5:16, 6:1-4).

4- In (Vs 15) we see that the motivation for giving is really a heart of “gratitude” for God’s
Gift to man in His Son Jesus Christ. Have you ever been so overwhelmed by the gift of
God to you that it left you speechless? Explain, and explain how this has motivated you
in the service to your King Jesus?

5- Overall the point of Chapters 8 and 9 is that God wants us to give out of grace. Discuss
what this means that “In grace giving we do not give in order to get, but because we
have been freely given Grace and that overflows, and when given freely makes room to
experience more of His grace.”

6- Overall has this study adjusted your attitude towards giving and service in the Kingdom.
How so.

o MEMORY VERSE: (2Corinthians 9:7).

FELLOWSHIP
o SENDING/ SERVICE – (Acts 1:8)
1. Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

o APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:

1) In (Vs 1-3) we talked about how the “ministry of the spirit” transforms the “heart”. We see this in Corinth. Look at (Hebrews 8:10, and 1Corinthians 6:9-11) and discuss how the Lord rewrote His story on the hearts of the Corinthians believers. In what ways can your life be an epistle, showing the power of the Gospel to the world around you. Be specific. Who is reading your testimony through your life?

2) In (Vs 4-6) we talked about how the ministry of the Spirit is “dependent on the Spirit”. In what ways do you see yourself tempted to think you have to be “sufficient” for the Lords work in and through your life? In What ways are you tempted to live under the letter the that kills(what you do for God) rather than the Spirit(what God does through man)?
a. Is your life, ministry, home, one that represents the letter(exterior rules and regulations) or the Spirit(a love relationship that transforms the heart)? Explain, and explain how you plan on being more grace oriented as we discussed on Sunday.

3) In (Vs 7-18) we saw that the new covenant of the Spirit is “better” that the letter of the law. If you were to describe your ability to “shine” with the glory of God, would it be external(dependent on circumstances) or internal(dependent on your relationship with the Lord). Explain?

4) In (Vs 18) we discussed the most simple truth about how as believers we can become more like Jesus. It really is as simple as beholding Jesus in His word by the Holy Spirit, and He will transform our lives. Discuss all the other way’s we as believers can be tempted to be transformed in the flesh. How do you practically plan on beholding Jesus in His word, and in what ways has beholding Jesus in His Word already transformed your life in ways that are evident, and to His glory?

o MEMORY VERSE: (2Corinthians 3:18)

FELLOWSHIP
o SENDING/ SERVICE – (Acts 1:8)
1. In (Vs 12-13) – we learned that even in the great apostle Paul’s life there were
“challenges” to being fragrant for Christ. Paul had a concern that wouldn’t allow him to
shake the one thing and what he could imagine was going wrong in Corinth with Titus.
Have you ever, or do you currently have concerns that are just overwhelming you, and
keeping you from being a “smelly Christian” for Jesus? Share you concerns and take
them to prayer with the group (Phil 4:6-7, 1Peter 5:7).

2. In (Vs 14-16) – Paul moves his “confidence” to the Lord, and is reminded that we are
“always” and in “everyplace” triumphant in Christ. Is there a time of day, or a location
that you find it particularly difficult to be a good, fragrant witness for Christ? Share, and
discuss the truth that in all of those situations you are walking as a victor in Christ.

3. In (Vs 14-16) we talked about how we can be more fragrant with the savor of Christ.
Simply by being with Him as in (Acts 4:13). What does your daily devotional time look
like with Jesus, in what ways could this grow, and even throughout your day?

4. In (Vs 15-16) we talked about what it would look like to be fragrant like Jesus. In (Vs 17) we discussed how important it is that the fragrance stays “pure”. Paul said he
is not diluting it, by diluting the word towards selfish gain, and he is doing so pure in the sight of God. Paul shares what enabled him to be a genuine witness to the world and to the Corinthians. It was “by the grace of God”. Have you ever tried to live out the Christian life in your own strength and found to seem so “plastic” of “fake”? If so, explain. How can you plan instead to rely on the grace of the genuine Christ to live His life through you by the grace of God. NOTE: (1 Cor 15:10, John 15:5, Phil 2:13, Gal 2:20, Col 1:27).

a. What is the affect on the world, when we “pretend” Christian?

3) In verses 13-14, Paul described his “genuine communication”. Paul declares that what he said was straightforward, easy to understand, and without anything written between the lines. How can we be better at saying what we mean, and meaning what we say? Have you on the other hand ever accused anyone of hidden meanings? According to verse 14, it will all be judged before Christ one day(1 Cor 4:5). How can we better deal with these situations?

4) In verses 15-18, Paul talks about His genuine intentions. We talked about the fact that genuine intentions are more about what we do, which shows our intentions (Pr 4:23, Mt 15:8) than what we say. But on the other hand, in James 4:13-17 we see that we must also be flexible because we get God’s intentions wrong. How can we better keep to what we intend (Psalm 15:4)? And how can we better entrust others’ intentions to the Lord? Give examples.

a. Have you ever been in danger of saying yes, when you really mean no? Explain why we would do this?

5) In verses 19-22, we learned of God’s “genuine promises”. Though man may fail to keep the best of intentions, God never will (Numbers 23:19). God has in a sense, sent the check with your name on it, signed in in the blood of His Son Jesus, and noted the 3,000 plus promises in the 66 books of Scripture for those who are “in Christ”. How do you practice laying hold of the promises of God, cashing in on them by faith? Name a promise you have recently done so by faith.

6) In verses 23-24, Paul shares his “genuine decision” to not come to Corinth again until a later time. Paul’s genuine decision was based of of two things. First, the character of God was to spare the rod again against the unrepentant Corinthians who were not yet ready for grace. And secondly, it was for the good of the Corinthians whom he loved. When you make decisions, is it based off what brings God glory, and what is good for others, or is it for what is easiest for me? Explain, and give an example if you can?

o MEMORY VERSE: (2Cor 1:20) – “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

FELLOWSHIP
o SENDING/ SERVICE – (Acts 1:8)
1. What ministries have you been participating in this week, and what ways do you as an individual or a group want to pray about participating in in the weeks to come?

PRAYER – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)

1. In what ways has God answered your prayer requests from your last Acts 2:42 meeting?

2. Share your prayer requests with one another, and write them down. Share how in your current trial, or in trials you have experienced in the past, God has comforted you.

3) In verses 4b-7, we saw that one of the blessings in suffering is that we then become a blessing to others going through trials? Share how someone has comforted you by sharing God’s comfort for them, or how God has used you to encourage another who is suffering by your own testimony of God’s comfort?

4) When you are in a trial, do you tend to look inward and get bummed out, or do you look for ways you can be a blessing to others in the trial. Consider Phil 2:3-5, and discuss how you can look to be a blessing to others in your trials.

5) In verses 8-9, we saw that one of the benefits to suffering as a child of God is that it causes us to let go of trusting in ourselves, in order that we might place all of our trust in God. Share a trial you have been in, or are in, where God has allowed all of your resources to be brought to nothing? How did you respond?

6) In verses 10-11, we saw that the benefit of suffering in Christ is the promise of deliverance. We are reminded that our past spiritual deliverance is an encouragement that God will yet deliver us. Share a way in the past that God has delivered you through and out of a trial? Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

o APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:
1. In (Vs 51) notice the fact of the “rapture” of the church in the statement “we shall not all sleep, . . .” Though we do not know exactly when this time will be in the future, what do you think the benefits would be personally of “rapture” Vs. dying and the being changed?

2. In (Vs 52) Paul tells us about “how” the rapture will happen. It will be suddenly “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” which means there will be no time to change your mind. Since the rapture is imminent, and we are told to “watch and be ready” are you personally ready to meat the Lord without regret if it were to happen now? Why or why not. Are there things in life you need to adjust in order to be ready? What and how do you plan on doing so?

3. In (Vs 52) We looked at the timing of the rapture, meaning on the eschatological timeline it seams to be pre-trib, that is before the judgment of God upon this world described in (Revelation 6-19). Of the 9 reasons given, which is most convincing of this to you, or not so? Discuss without being contentious.

4. In (Vs 54-56) we see Paul’s Scriptural taunt of death!! In What ways has “death” tormented you personally, and how do you stand now knowing the truth of the resurrection and declaring victory like Paul? How do you plan on practicing this?
5. In (Vs 57) we see our humble gratitude. How can you live a more confident, and thankful
life in light of the resurrection? Where do you find yourself giving into defeat and why?

6. In (Vs 58) we are reminded of the value of being faithful “steadfast”, immovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord since we believe in the life beyond the grave. Have you been tempted to give up, pressured to be moved or to lessen the load of service in the kingdom because of discouragement. How does it encourage you to think about the reward at the finish line. Note (Matthew 25:21, 1Cor 3, 2Timothy 4, Matthew 6:19-21).?

o MEMORY VERSE: (1Corinthians 15:51).
FELLOWSHIP
o SENDING/ SERVICE – (Acts 1:8)
1. What kind of storms has God allowed into your life lately, and have you accepted the fact that they are directed by Him?

(Vs 24) – Describe how there are similarities to your storms (trials) and the storm the disciples were in. They were too far from any solid land to save themselves, they were tossed around by the waves, and whenever one wave left, they were hit with another, and the wind was contrary to them, everything was against them.

(Vs 25-27) – It was in the midst of the storm that Jesus revealed Himself to the disciples. How has Jesus been revealed to you in the midst of storms in life?

(Vs 28-29) – In these verses we see Peter take a step of faith to trust Jesus for the impossible. Have you ever though about the fact that you were once Satan’s slave? (Ephesians 2:2, Acts 26:18, 1John 5:19, John 8:44, 10:10).

(Vs 6-13) – Whether we were demon possessed, or just demonically influenced before encountering Christ, what is the secret we learned to making the enemy flee from our lives? NOTE THE VERSES (James 4:7-8, Acts 26:18, 1John 4:4).

In what ways can you relate to this demonic man’s encounter with Christ? When did you, if you have, run to Jesus to worship Him as Lord the first time? If you haven’t when do you plan on doing so?

(Vs 14-20) – In (Vs 15) specifically, we see how this man’s life was transformed because he became a “has been demon possessed” man. This relates to us in three ways. We find peace to “sit”(Eph 2:6, Hebrews 4:10, Matthew 11:28-30, Psalm 127). Instead of shamefully naked in sin, we are clothed in His righteousness (Isiah 61:10). We are given a “right mind” or a sound mind instead of fear, anxiety, and paranoia (2Tim 1:7). Since this is true of every believer, how have these truths been true experientially in your walk with Christ in comparison to pre-Christ?

Verses 19 & 20 are an encouragement and challenge to all of us. To, “Go home to your friends (and family, people) and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you. . .” The Great Commission starts at our Jerusalem (Acts 1:8); our home. Who in your circle of family and friends do you sense a leading to share what Christ has done for you? Pray for this, and ask for accountability from the group to do so.

MEMORY VERSE: (Mark 5:19)

FELLOWSHIP

SENDING/ SERVICE – (Acts 1:8)

What ministries have you been participating in this week, and what ways do you as an individual or a group want to pray about participating in in the weeks to come?

PRAYER – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)

In what ways has God answered your prayer requests from your last Acts 2:42 meeting?

Share your prayer requests with one another, and write them down. Do you view Jesus more as a law enforcement officer calling out wrongs or having already called out the wrongs or a paramedic coming to heal the soul of sinners (1 John 1:9) and the affects of sin (Ezekiel 36:26)? What is the difference, and discuss how this affects your walk with Jesus today?

MEMORY VERSE: (Mark 2:17) – “When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need ofa physicion, but those who are sick. In what ways can you relate to these fisherman who were just regular guys? Peter was known as Simon, which means “shifty sand, or unstable”(John 1:40-42). They were fairly uneducated compared to the religious leaders of the day (Acts 4:13), and they acknowledged themselves to be sinful men (Luke 5:8).

In (vs 19) we hear the invitation given to “follow Me”, and “I will make” is the promise. How often in your Christian life have you been focused on the “I will make”(lit-bear fruit) than the “follow Me”. Why is it important for us to be focused on our part “follow Me”(relationship) and trust Him with the promise? Note John 15:1-5 in light of this.

In (vs 20-22) we see the response of the disciples. We take note that it was “immediately”. What has kept you personally procrastinating the call to follow Jesus all the way?

In (vs 20-22) we see them essentially leaving behind their comforts, security, all that they knew to follow Jesus. What is wrong with the idea of thinking that they lost something in doing so? Read (Luke 14:25-33, 18:28-30, Phil 3:7-8). What have you “lost” in following Christ, has that been a bad or good thing? What did that look like in your life, what did you or do you plan on doing about it?

(13:1-3) – Have you ever experienced, or have you yourself been guilty of being annoying (Vs 1) useless (Vs 2) or ineffective (Vs 3) in your Christian life because your Christian life was from the outside in, instead of the inside out (fruit) as it seemed to be in the Corinthians lives? If so, read the solution in (Revelation 2:1-7), pray for one another, and return to your first love relationship with Jesus.

Read (John 15:1-16, Gal 5:22) and discuss where fruit of the Holy Spirit comes from? How can you practically grow in this in your own life?

As we read the definition of love in (Vs 4-7), what was it that most challenged how you have viewed “love” in your life. What is the contrast with the world’s view of love? In what ways did you realize you needed more and more to depend on the Holy Spirit for this fruit in your life?

In what ways does the definition of love, perfectly describing Jesus, encourage you about who Jesus is?

(Vs 8-13) - Since love seems to be that which will remain for eternity, we are challenged to emphasize that in all of our service. When you think about the great white throne and how everything without love will be burned up (1Cor 3), how does it challenge you to change your goals for growing as a Christian?

(14:1) – In what ways practically, can you, by God’s grace, take steps of faith to “persue love, and desire spiritual gifts. . .” or “. . . make it your aim, your great quest?

MEMORY VERSE: (1Corinthians 14:1a) – “Persue love, and desire spiritual gifts. . .”

What implications does this have on the fact that the physical body, and the church Body are a compound unity; one Body, many members?

(Vs 12-14) Have you ever thought of the task of the Great Commission (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8) as overwhelming? How does it help to realize that it takes the whole Body to fulfill this great calling?

What part do you see yourself playing in the Great Commission. Reference the gifts cheet sheet?

(vs 15-20) Have you ever found yourself belieing the cancerous lie of “you don’t need me” in the Body of Christ? What was or is the result of believing this lie in your life? How have you, or will you seek to correct this?

(vs 21-24) Have you ever found yourself believing the cancerous lie of “I don’t need you” in a lone ranger, or isolation type of mentality? What was the result of this, and how do you plan on correcting this?

(vs 25-27) Since we are all one Body, it is logical that we would care and compensate when others are down? In what ways have you seen others compensate for you when you were down(suffering) in order that you might heal? In what ways have you compensated so others can be restored and the Body healthy again?

(vs 25-27) Since we are all one Body, it would make sense that we would rejoice, and desire the victory of our fellow body parts in the same Body. What happens when body parts start competing against each other, or think also of teammates that would compete against each other? Are you truly happy to see your fellow body parts used of the Lord and exalted as such? Compare this attitude with the mind of Christ (Phil 2:3-4), and how does this apply?

(vs 28-31) When you are desiring the best gifts, do you generally say this would be the best gift for “me”, or this would be the best gift for “us” to reflect Jesus corporately to the world? Explain the difference and how it might work out in your life?
