NOTHING LIKE A GOOD TEST TO REVEAL where we are placing our trust. I wish it wasn’t true but when things get difficult and I get challenged It often reveals that Im trusting in fickle people, or fickle circumstances, or flesh, or self. I become spiritually dry and cease from being as fruitful as I was when things were good so to speak. the Bible says this is a revealer of where we are putting the roots of our trust. . . (Jeremiah 17:5-6) Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.” ON THE OTHER HAND there are those who when they are tested seem to thrive!!! They simply don’t change regardless of the circumstances. They still bear fruit – (Gal 5:22) Love, joy, long-suffering etc. because their roots are deep down into the Lord, looking for nourishment not from man, from self, or from circumstances, but that spiritual reality of a relationship with Jesus that is below the surface and cannot be seen by the human eye. It is a relationship that allows the source of His SPIRIT to flow through us regardless of any outward test that may come. (Jeremiah 17:7-8) says “Blessed(oh how happy) is the man who trusts IN THE LORD And whose hope IS THE LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, NOR WILL CEASE FROM YIELDING FRUIT.” Where are we placing our trust today? The test is being applied, . . . what is coming out? Place your restful, trust deep down into the Lord and He will bring forth much fruit (John 151-7) as we simply abide in JESUS. REST in Him and watch Him make you a source of blessing and life in this time of drought. Love you guys, and we dearly miss the church family!!.
