Acts 2:42 / Titus 2
Discipleship Ministries

WHO: “One accord” – The Acts 2:42 ministry is for all believers at HCF who are interested in growing in the Great Commission (our vision) of win (Mark 16:15), disciple (Matthew 28:19-20), send (Acts 1:8) in a more intimate setting. These groups, led by a facilitator, are to be a continuation of our daily lives “from house to house” (smaller group gatherings). Our encouragement is that people would gather at least once a month, but could certainly meet weekly for effective, intimate fellowship. We encourage these groups to remain under ten adults in order to have deep, “one accord” fellowship, and if it grows beyond that, start more groups!
WHAT: At HCF, “the Word, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer” (Acts 2:42) are the four legs we stand on. A small group is a group of people getting together to go through the questions sent out weekly from the office via email, on the website, or on the app in order to encourage each other in walking out the Great Commission, and applying the text we are studying on Sundays to daily life. We greatly encourage a meal, snacks, or coffee together to have sweet fellowship as a family.
WHEN: We discourage this being a replacement for the foundational vision of HCF of gathering “with one accord in the temple”, which is our large group gatherings of Wednesday night Old Testament study, Sunday morning New Testament study, and Sunday night prayer. However, we pray that the Lord will allow this to be an overflow into our everyday lives.
WHERE: “Breaking bread from house to house” - We break bread together in our homes, in a coffee shop, or wherever people gather. Do likewise with other brothers and sisters with some intentionality to grow together, and serve together.
WHY: “Gladness and simplicity of heart”- No one needs another meeting to attend; this is to be a simple overflow of our church lives, into our “daily” lives. The Great Commission of discipleship (Matthew 28:19-20) is “as you go”. This is to take our Christianity out of our church building, into our families, friendships, and neighborhoods that we might apply what it is we are learning as a joyful, glad, simple overflow of our life in Christ.
HOW:
GROUP
Ask some people you have met at church, or if you are new and want to get plugged in, contact the office and we will help direct you to groups we are aware of that may be a good fit for you. We encourage the discussion and application questions following our Sunday services so we can practice what we are learning in these groups, however if someone desires to do an inductive Bible study, that is also welcomed (Would encourage taking our IBS class for doing this).
MEN & WOMEN (ONE-ON-ONE)
This is the Titus 2 model of older men/women in the faith meeting with younger men/women in the faith one-on-one to hold them accountable in regular Sunday and Wednesday worship service attendance, walking through the weekly application questions, and encouraging one another in the Great Commission. We encourage those struggling with addiction/besetting sin to consider going through the book “The Cure for Addiction”, and new believers to go through the New Believer’s Study Guide, found at the info table.
COUPLES
Same as above only couples with couples. We do also encourage marital study and discussion through the study guide as well through the book “Transforming the Heart of Marriage”, found in the office.

DISCIPLE OR FACILITATE A GROUP
Please start by filling out an HCF volunteer application, and meet with one of the leaders (we can connect you with someone as the Lord leads or you can let us know who the Lord has already put on your heart). We are not here to micro manage this, only to help connect people who want to be used, and be discipled.
BE DISCIPLED OR JOIN A GROUP
Connect with the office if you do not have a mentor, and we will do our best to prayerfully pair you with someone or a couple that is looking to simply walk this Christian life with you.
