Prevailing Through Prayer

COME AND PRAY GOD’S WORD/WILL WITH US DURING 1ST SERVICE AND KNOW THAT GOD WILL ANSWER YOUR PRAYERS.

PRAY FERVENTLY FOR GOD’S PEOPLE, HIS MINISTERS, AND THE LOST WHILE THE SWORD (THE WORD OF GOD) IS BEING SWUNG (TAUGHT).

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."
1 John 5:14-15 NKJV
Join us as we pray during 1st service while the teaching is going on. This is a prayer meeting that is primarily focused on what God wants to accomplish through the teaching of His Word that Sunday morning. We will be praying according to the Bible text that is being taught. There are specific things in His Church that God wants to accomplish through His Word as we gather. We can work with God by praying these things through. I will have a sheet each Sunday to guide us into this manner of praying. As of now, we are meeting in the Chapel room during 1st service after worship.
Please attend 2nd service for worship and the teaching if you will be participating.
I am reminded as we start this kind of prayer through the service, that we are not praying for victory, but rather from victory. We are called to stand along the pastor/teacher in praying for him and the Church as God’s Word goes forth. Paul said, “and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." Eph 6:17-20

There are  two main Old Testament passages that show us the importance and need for intercession while the Sword, the Word of God, is being swung (taught):
In Exodus 17:8-13, we see Moses, Aaron, and Hur going up to the top of the hill to pray as Joshua and his men are fighting Amalek (type of the “flesh”). Moses had help from Aaron and Hur in holding up the rod of God in his hand while Joshua fought. When Moses held up the rod, which signified complete dependence on God’s power to fight the battle, they prevailed in  victory over the enemy. When the rod was let down, the enemy prevailed. Because of the help of Aaron and Hur the heavy rod was able to be kept up, therefore Joshua “defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.” Likewise, we ought to be interceding and calling on God as the truth of His Word goes forth.

In Joshua 8:18-20, God tells Joshua to stretch out his spear toward Ai for God had promised victory over them. The victory was already theirs, God just wanted Joshua to now just claim it by faith by stretching out his hand until the work was accomplished. We see that is what he did. “For Joshua did not draw back his hand, with which he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai (8:26).”

We want to see all that God wants to accomplish as we gather. If the Lord is stirring your heart to participate, please talk to me. Like Moses and Joshua, may we proclaim God’s victory as we prevail together through prayer.

Exodus 17:10-12 NKJV - 10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses' hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

Joshua 8:18-20, 26 NKJV - 18 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Stretch out the spear that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand." And Joshua stretched out the spear that was in his hand toward the city. 19 So those in ambush arose quickly out of their place; they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand, and they entered the city and took it, and hurried to set the city on fire. 20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and behold, the smoke of the city ascended to heaven. So they had no power to flee this way or that way, and the people who had fled to the wilderness turned back on the pursuers. ... 26 For Joshua did not draw back his hand, with which he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.

Ephesians 6:17-20 NKJV - 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
