DISCIPLE – (Matthew 28:19-20)
It is our desire that every person within the body would participate in the discipleship
relationship at Horizon, in obedience to Matthew 28:19-20. These are the ways this process works here at HCF.

Discipleship Focus:
First is Large Group Gatherings (Sunday and Wednesday Service)

Second is small group/1-on-1 relationships to have fellowship

Third is to take part in the School of Ministry.
1. Sunday and Wednesday teaching through the whole Bible (Acts 2:42, 20:27)
We teach through the New Testament on Sunday’s, and the Old Testament on Wednesday’s. Attending these worship services will allow you to be taught the Word in a way you can understand and apply.
These services also have a time for worship, an opportunity for response to the Word that we may pray for each other. There is also a time of fellowship before and after each service. These times are vital for a believer to obey the commands of scripture and walk with Jesus.
2. Small Group Discipleship - Men’s/Women’s/Couples (Acts 2:42,46 Titus 2)
Discipleship is something that happens throughout the natural overflow of our daily lives. This happens in a few different types of groups. The goal of these groups is to be intentional in each other’s lives in helping each other grow in the Grace of our Lord Jesus. We desire that all members of the body would participate in discipleship in accordance with the Great Commission.
***For the meetings described below, we will be using the Acts 2:46 Discipleship question sheet that is sent out each Sunday. It is a simple guide through the model of Acts 2:42: Apostles Doctrine, breaking of bread, fellowship, and prayer. It is meant to be used in a meeting setting, over dinner, while doing something we already do (going shopping, working on projects, making a meal, exercising or playing, fishing, etc.) ***
Who is this for?
“One accord” – The Acts 2:42 ministry is for all believers at HCF who are interested in
growing in the Great Commission (our vision) of win (Mark 16:15), disciple (Matthew 28:19-20),
send (Acts 1:8). These groups, led by a facilitator, are to be a continuation of our daily lives

What will we do?
At HCF, “the Word, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer” (Acts 2:42) are the four
legs we stand on. A small group is a group of people getting together to go through the Acts
2:46 Discipleship questions sent out weekly from the office via email, on the website, or on the
app in order to encourage each other in walking out the Great Commission, and applying the
text we are studying on Sundays and Wednesdays to daily life. We greatly encourage a meal,
snacks, or coffee together to have sweet fellowship as a family. The Acts 2:46 questions are
also designed to be used within homes for families, which is a natural place for discipleship to
occur (Deut. 6:5-9). Alternatively, a group could decide to use the “Apostle’s Doctrine” section
to go through an approved study (i.e. Transforming the Heart of Marriage, The Cure for
Addiction, New Believer’s Packet, etc.).

accord in the temple”, which is our large group gatherings of Wednesday night Old Testament
study, Sunday morning New Testament study, and Sunday night prayer. However, we pray that
the Lord will allow this to be an overflow into our everyday lives. Our encouragement is that
people would gather at least once a month, but could certainly meet weekly for effective,
intimate fellowship. We encourage these groups to remain at most 4 couples, or 8 individuals in
order to have deep, “one accord” fellowship, and if it grows beyond that, start more groups!
As the desire for these is to be growth, we encourage a check-in period from the leadership of
the church every 6 months to assess how the Lord is leading, raising up others to lead groups.

you are doing (Deut 6:7). The women’s groups can meet every other week at the church
fellowship hall, on Thursday evenings (6pm-8pm) and Friday mornings (8am - 11am).

are learning as a joyful, glad, simple overflow of our life in Christ. We desire that all members of
the body will be growing through discipleship, and grow to a place where they can be qualified
to disciple others.

Below are the types of Small Group Discipleship groups.
Men's Ministry
Our Men’s ministry consists of discipleship relationships (either 1-to-1, or a discipler leading 2-3 other guys). Our leaders are qualified to lead the groups that they are in. It is desired that these groups would meet at least once a month, and that all members would be taking part in the daily reading plan that the HCF body is currently going through. The Acts 2:46 questions are designed for these meetings to happen within our “daily lives”.
There will be quarterly large group gatherings for all men to gather for fellowship.

Women's Ministry
Our Women’s ministry consists of discipleship relationships (either 1-to-1, or a discipler leading 2-3 other women). Our leaders are qualified to lead the groups that they are in. It is desired that these groups would meet at least once a month, and that all members would be taking part in the daily reading plan that the HCF body is currently going through. The Acts 2:46 questions are designed for these meetings to happen within our “daily lives”.
There will be a bi-weekly (2x a month) gathering at the HCF building on Thursday evenings and Friday mornings, where the Fellowship Hall will be open for these meetings to occur.
There will be occasional large group gatherings for the Women of HCF (i.e. Women’s Christmas Luncheon)

Couple's Ministry
Couple’s meeting together with other couples. These are encouraged to meet as the Lord leads at least monthly, or more frequently as the Lord wills, and that all members would be taking part in the daily reading plan that the HCF body is currently going through. We would limit these groups to a maximum of 8 adults per group, knowing that fewer will allow greater intimacy as we walk through life together.
Acts 2:46 Facilitator Requirements
1. Must have a general character that follows that of a leader/servant in the church (1 Timothy 3).
2. Filled out an HCF volunteer application and completed an interview with HCF leadership.
3. Has attended HCF for at least 6 months. (1 Timothy 5:22)
4. Is currently serving in the body as an example of the Great Commission on Sundays and Wednesday services. (1 Peter 5:3)
5. Is a regular attender of Sunday worship/prayer night and Wednesday services. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
6. Is in full agreement with HCF statement of faith, ministry distinctives as described in Calvary Chapel Distinctives, and is fully willing to support the overall vision at HCF in discipling others. (Amos 3:3).
7. Has watched the Acts 2:46 vision video, and Acts 2:46 Meeting Guide video. Is currently reading through the bible with the church body on the daily reading plan.
8. Is in agreement with the Discipleship process God has called us to here at HCF. The vision of (Acts 2:42, 46; Titus 2) in mind for their fellowship, Word, prayer, fellowship & breaking of bread.
9. If leading a group of men or both men and women you must be of the male gender, and the one-on-one discipleship is only between those of the same gender outside of family relationships (1 Timothy 2, Titus 2).
10. We encourage a six month commitment, including a check-in from leadership, to help evaluate and encourage group transfers (to avoid isolation of certain groups within the body), and to evaluate if anyone in the group is ready and qualified to lead their own group or discipler.
11. Is approved by the Men’s ministry, Women’s Ministry, and/or Pastoral leadership of HCF as appropriate.
