THROUGH THE BIBLE READING1.Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?
APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:
1. In ways, has or was marriage painted in a bad light for you, and how does that compare to what we have studied in the past 2 weeks in (1 Corinthians 7:1-5).
2. (Vs 7) we learn that marriage is specifically a “gift from God”. We also learn that singleness is a “gift from God”. Have you ever found yourself saying things like “I deserve better”?
a.Take a moment and list 5 things you are greatful for, for you spouse, or even your singlness if you are single?
3. (Vs 11) Why would it be easy to believe that it would be easier to follow Jesus if we were not married, or had “space” from our spouse? In What ways has the difficulties in marriage, though difficult made you more like Jesus? (Romans 8:28-29).
4. (Vs 11) Since being “reconciled” is the goal of a believers marriage, and since I have little to no control over what my spouse does, what can I do. (Read (Matthew 7:1,5). Can you, and in what ways, say “I am wrong” personally and know the Lord wants to grow me in my role in marriage? In case your wondering Read (Ephesians 5:22-31, 1Peter 3:1-7) to get a good idea of our Biblical marital roles.
5. (Vs 14) We discussed the challenges of living in what seams to be an unfair marriage relationship with a disobedient or unbelieving spouse. Whether in marriage, or in other earthly relationships, how does Peters advice in these situations (1 Peter 2:18-3:18) fly in the face of the way “fairness” or “its my right” thinking is often exulted in our culture today? How has this thinking affected you?
6. If a person is single, what are the dangers of marrying someone who is unequally yoked spiritually with us? Are you in danger of not waiting on God’s timing, explain.
7. Any other thoughts or questions concerning a healthy marriage as we discussed this passage of scripture in (1 Corinthians 7:1-16).
