  • THROUGH THE BIBLE READING
  • Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

  • APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:
  • (Vs 13-14) – Have you yourself, like Levi, given up on religion and sought to find satisfaction in the world like Solomon (Eccl) or like the prodigal son of (Luke 15)?  Why did you do so, and what were the results?

  • (Vs 14) – When Levi left the tax office, he really burned his bridges since his bridges with family and religion were already burned, and Rome was no longer an option.  Have you really counted the cost in this way, counting Jesus worthy, or do you have a plan B if “Jesus doesn’t work out”, so to speak? Explain your answer.

  • (Vs 15-16) – It was an incredible thing in that culture that Jesus would come sit down and ea t(identifying Himself) with these sinners and tax collectors. Have you had a relationship that says, “When I get things right, l’ll invite Jesus to come sit with me”, or do you believe Jesus wants to come sit with you where you are, and through this gracious relationship, make you what He intends for you to be?  Note: (Revelation 3:20) and notice what kind of people he persues to come sit with, and what the goal was.

  • (Vs 17) – In this verse Jesus shares His real heart and intentions through the gospel.  Jesus didn’t come to make good people better people, but to make sick people God’s people by grace. Do you view Jesus more as a law enforcement officer calling out wrongs or having already called out the wrongs or a paramedic coming to heal the soul of sinners (1 John 1:9) and the affects of sin (Ezekiel 36:26)? What is the difference, and discuss how this affects your walk with Jesus today?

  • MEMORY VERSE:  (Mark 2:17) – “When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need ofa physicion, but those who are sick. I did nto come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
