Acts 2:46 Questions - John 4:1-26

Purpose

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

As explained in Acts 2:46–47:
“And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

And commanded in Titus 2:2-8:
“2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.”

HCF Vision

We believe simple, relational gatherings are the heartbeat of biblical discipleship. These meetings are fulfilling what is described in Titus 2 / Acts 2:42, and are designed to be natural extensions of everyday life — not another program, but a return to how the early church “did life” together.
Scriptural Core Elements of Gatherings:

Breaking of Bread – Enjoy a meal or refreshments together
Fellowship – Spiritual conversation and authentic sharing
Apostles’ Doctrine – Discuss God’s Word and how it applies to real life
Prayer – Pray for one another and for the lost

These gatherings can be used in one-on-one (Titus 2), small group, or family settings (Acts 2:46). Keep them simple, joyful, and reproducible so anyone can host them.

Goal

To Join Jesus in the Great Commission of:

WIN a person to Jesus → DISCIPLE a person in Jesus → SEND a person in Jesus

Application Questions from Bible Studies

In (Vs 1-10) we see “the encounter with Jesus as Living Water”. Think about, and discuss all that you can see God had to coordinate in order to have a Divine encounter with you. Explain.

As with Jesus as the Samaritan woman in (Vs 2-10) What kind of socio, economic, ethnic, religious boundaries did Jesus have to cross in order to reach into your life? How can we handle these things like Jesus with this woman as we seek to reach others around us?

In (Vs 13-14) we contrasted the dissatisfaction of the earthly waters with the satisfying waters of a love relationship with Jesus. In what ways have you yourself sought for satisfaction in life under the sun like this woman(Vs 16-18) or like Solomon in Ecclesiastes? Explain how these were empty cisterns (Jer 2:13).

In (Vs 26) we see the mic drop when Jesus declares in a literal translation “I AM speaking to you.” In otherwards, Jesus is that true, spiritual, love relationship that this woman was looking for all along. Explain how Jesus is “I AM” all that you need for yourself. Testify to the group how He has saved you, redeemed you, and become the lover of your soul. If He is not, recognize His present reality and pray to receive Him as your own Lord, Savior, Lover and friend.

We discussed the fact that as beings created in the image of God, who is love it is one of the greatest longings of our heart to have a spiritual, eternal love relationship with God. Are you someone who is single and longing for that relationship, possibly looking for love in all the wrong places? Are you married, and dissatisfied, falsely believing that your spouse could satisfy your longing for this perfect love relationship? Are you someone who has given up, believing this kind of love relationship doesn’t exist? Explain how Jesus fulfills what we are actually looking for, and how this can encourage you in your current love relationship status?

2. Fellowship / Breaking of Bread (1 John 1:3-10, James 5:13-16)

Are you suffering?
Do you have any praise to be cheerful about?
Do you have any sickness to pray for healing?
Do you have any sin to confess?

3. Prayer – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)

Share how God has answered prayers from our previous gathering and give thanks for His faithfulness. (Review what was written from the previous meeting)
Bear one another’s burdens and pray for one another (write them down)

Send a person for Jesus – (Acts 1:8)

What good works (service in the body of Christ) do you see God preparing you to walk in or have you walked in recently? (Ephesians 2:10) Share and pray about it.
