Acts 2:46 Questions - John 4:43-54

Purpose

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

As explained in Acts 2:46–47:
“And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

And commanded in Titus 2:2-8:
“2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.”

HCF Vision

We believe simple, relational gatherings are the heartbeat of biblical discipleship. These meetings are fulfilling what is described in Titus 2 / Acts 2:42, and are designed to be natural extensions of everyday life — not another program, but a return to how the early church “did life” together.
Scriptural Core Elements of Gatherings:

Breaking of Bread – Enjoy a meal or refreshments together
Fellowship – Spiritual conversation and authentic sharing
Apostles’ Doctrine – Discuss God’s Word and how it applies to real life
Prayer – Pray for one another and for the lost

These gatherings can be used in one-on-one (Titus 2), small group, or family settings (Acts 2:46). Keep them simple, joyful, and reproducible so anyone can host them.

Goal

To Join Jesus in the Great Commission of:

WIN a person to Jesus → DISCIPLE a person in Jesus → SEND a person in Jesus

Through the Bible Reading (John 8:31) – Do you have any thoughts or questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

Application Questions from Bible Studies

In (Vs 43-46) we see a man who rarely had “need”, become a desperate man who’s only hope was the healing touch of Jesus. What keeps you from admitting your “need” for Jesus? Explain.

In (Vs 47-49) we see this man who may have never prayed before, really “pray to Jesus for healing”. Again, what hinders you from praying about things (unbelief, inconvenience, etc.)? What would it take for you to be desperate in prayer? Explain and read (Hebrews 4:16).

In (Vs 50) we see a “promise and faith” in that promise for the healing. Is there anything you are currently praying for? Discuss what 1 John 5:14-15 reveals to us about this man’s prayer and faith, and how that applies to the desperate need you are praying about currently?

In (Vs 51-53) we see the “confirmation” that this man’s son was healed as a result of the word of Jesus. Do you have any situations in life where it was confirmed without a doubt that Jesus answered your prayer in a desperate situation? Share, praise, and glorify him by sharing your testimony. Read (Psalm 50:15) in light of this.

In (Vs 53b-54) we see the “results of the healing”. This man put his faith in Jesus as his savior, and his family experiencing Jesus through prayer followed. How has your faith affected your family, or those around you? How can you walk with Jesus in such a way that it does affect them more? Share how you plan to walk this out.

Memory Verse (Psalm 119:11): Exodus 15:26 - and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

2. Fellowship / Breaking of Bread (1 John 1:3-10, James 5:13-16)

Are you suffering?
Do you have any praise to be cheerful about?
Do you have any sickness to pray for healing?
Do you have any sin to confess?

3. Prayer – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)

Share how God has answered prayers from our previous gathering and give thanks for His faithfulness. (Review what was written from the previous meeting)
Bear one another’s burdens and pray for one another (write them down)

Send a person for Jesus – (Acts 1:8)

What good works (service in the body of Christ) do you see God preparing you to walk in or have you walked in recently? (Ephesians 2:10) Share and pray about it.
