Questions - John 6:30-59 & Ezk 11-12

Purpose

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

As explained in Acts 2:46–47:
“And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

And commanded in Titus 2:2-8:
“2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.”

HCF Vision

We believe simple, relational gatherings are the heartbeat of biblical discipleship. These meetings are fulfilling what is described in Titus 2 / Acts 2:42, and are designed to be natural extensions of everyday life — not another program, but a return to how the early church “did life” together.
Scriptural Core Elements of Gatherings:

Breaking of Bread – Enjoy a meal or refreshments together
Fellowship – Spiritual conversation and authentic sharing
Apostles’ Doctrine – Discuss God’s Word and how it applies to real life
Prayer – Pray for one another and for the lost

These gatherings can be used in one-on-one (Titus 2), small group, or family settings (Acts 2:46). Keep them simple, joyful, and reproducible so anyone can host them.

Goal

To Join Jesus in the Great Commission of:

WIN a person to Jesus → DISCIPLE a person in Jesus → SEND a person in Jesus

In (Ezekiel 12) Ezekiel gives several illustrations for the stubborn and rebellious people (Vs 1-2) that didn’t quite seem to see and hear what Ezekiel was saying. Ezekiel's life was to become the message for the people. In what ways specifically do you see your own life being a message that people will look at and read the message of God?

Bible Study Theme: John 6:30-59 Knowing Jesus as the Bread of Life Pt. 4

In (Vs 35) Jesus makes His claim of Deity again and states that He Himself is The (singular) Bread of Life, and that if anyone comes to Him in Faith they will emphatically never, never, hunger or thirst in their soul. Connecting this with the discontented complaining of the Jews (Vs 41, 43, 52, 61, 1 Cor 10:10). Does your life display that of satisfaction and gratitude or that of never being satisfied as though you were not currently enjoying the Bread of life? Explain why you think so. What would others say of you? Explain.

In (Vs 37) Jesus makes one of the most comforting statements of Scripture when He says “. . the one who comes to Me I will by no means(emphatic negative) cast out.” In other words if you come to Jesus in genuine faith for Him, He will never turn you away and reject your coming. What excuses have you ever made in which Jesus may turn you away? If so, set those aside under this promise and pray, coming to Jesus with a fresh view of His acceptance in Christ.

In (Vs 47-51) Jesus contrasts the temporary bread that sustained the Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years only to die with Him as the Bread of Life that has an ever increasing and eternal life. Maybe share things or people in life that you have put trust in that let you down because their satisfaction didn’t last in or beyond this life? What does it mean to you that the life we have from Christ has an ever increasing abundance of life in this life and the next? How do you view life differently because of this?
In (Vs 53) Jesus declares the necessity of every person to make a choice to eat and drink one time for this life He is. In (Vs 56-57) the tense changes to a continual and ongoing eating, drinking, and feeding on the Life of Jesus in order to experience His abiding life. Looking at (Exodus 16) and how the Israelites were to partake of the manna daily, how can you practically apply what it looks like to daily and regularly feed on Jesus as the Bread of life? How does it affect your relationships to others or circumstances when you are feeding on Jesus for satisfaction eternally? Give specific Examples of both.

John 6:35 "And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst"

3. Prayer – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)

Share how God has answered prayers from our previous gathering and give thanks for His faithfulness. (Review what was written from the previous meeting)
Bear one another’s burdens and pray for one another (write them down)

Send a person for Jesus – (Acts 1:8)

What good works (service in the body of Christ) do you see God preparing you to walk in or have you walked in recently? (Ephesians 2:10) Share and pray about it.
