APOSTLES DOCTRINE(WORD)
  • THROUGH THE BIBLE READING
  • Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

  • APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:
  • In (vs 18), we notice the kind of people Jesus encountered. In what ways can you relate to these fisherman who were just regular guys? Peter was known as Simon, which means “shifty sand, or unstable”(John 1:40-42). They were fairly uneducated compared to the religious leaders of the day (Acts 4:13), and they acknowledged themselves to be sinful men (Luke 5:8).

  • In (vs 19) we hear the invitation given to “follow Me”, and “I will make” is the promise. How often in your Christian life have you been focused on the “I will make”(lit-bear fruit) than the “follow Me”. Why is it important for us to be focused on our part “follow Me”(relationship) and trust Him with the promise?  Note John 15:1-5 in light of this.

  • In (vs 20-22) we see the response of the disciples. We take note that it was “immediately”. What has kept you personally procrastinating the call to follow Jesus all the way?

  • In (vs 20-22) we see them essentially leaving behind their comforts, security, all that they knew to follow Jesus. What is wrong with the idea of thinking that they lost something in doing so? Read (Luke 14:25-33, 18:28-30, Phil 3:7-8). What have you “lost” in following Christ, has that been a bad or good thing? Explain?

  • If you are able to, briefly share your encounter with Jesus of Nazareth that caused you to, so to speak, “drop your nets”and follow Him? Share how and why it has been worth it.

  • MEMORY VERSE: (Matthew 4:19)  - “Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
