December 7, Acts 2:42 Questions

Bible study dates: 12-7-25
Bible study Themes: (2 Corinthians 1:12-24) Genuine Christianity
APOSTLES DOCTRINE(WORD)
o   THROUGH THE BIBLE READING
1.      Do you have any thoughts questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

o   APPLICATIONS QUESTIONS FROM BIBLE STUDIES:
1)      In what ways have you seen Christianity that was not genuine, and how did that experience affect your life?

2)      In verse 12 we saw “genuine ability”. Paul shares what enabled him to be a genuine witness to the world and to the Corinthians. It was “by the grace of God”. Have you ever tried to live out the Christian life in your own strength and found to seem so “plastic” of “fake”? If so, explain. How can you plan instead to rely on the grace of the genuine Christ to live His life through you by the grace of God. NOTE: (1 Cor 15:10, John 15:5, Phil 2:13, Gal 2:20, Col 1:27).

a.      What is the affect on the world, when we “pretend” Christian?

3)      In verses 13-14, Paul described his “genuine communication”. Paul declares that what he said was straightforward, easy to understand, and without anything written between the lines. How can we be better at saying what we mean, and meaning what we say? Have you on the other hand ever accused anyone of hidden meanings?  According to verse 14, it will all be judged before Christ one day(1 Cor 4:5). How can we better deal with these situations?

4)      In verses 15-18, Paul talks about His genuine intentions. We talked about the fact that genuine intentions are more about what we do, which shows our intentions (Pr 4:23, Mt 15:8) than what we say. But on the other hand, in James 4:13-17 we see that we must also be flexible because we get God’s intentions wrong. How can we better keep to what we intend (Psalm 15:4)? And how can we better entrust others’ intentions to the Lord? Give examples.

a.      Have you ever been in danger of saying yes, when you really mean no?  Explain why we would do this?

5)      In verses 19-22, we learned of God’s “genuine promises”. Though man may fail to keep the best of intentions, God never will (Numbers 23:19). God has in a sense, sent the check with your name on it, signed in in the blood of His Son Jesus, and noted the 3,000 plus promises in the 66 books of Scripture for those who are “in Christ”.  How do you practice laying hold of the promises of God, cashing in on them by faith?  Name a promise you have recently done so by faith.

6)      In verses 23-24, Paul shares his “genuine decision” to not come to Corinth again until a later time. Paul’s genuine decision was based of of two things. First, the character of God was to spare the rod again against the unrepentant Corinthians who were not yet ready for grace. And secondly, it was for the good of the Corinthians whom he loved. When you make decisions, is it based off what brings God glory, and what is good for others, or is it for what is easiest for me? Explain, and give an example if you can?
