Questions - John 6:60-71 & Ezk 13-14:5

Purpose

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

As explained in Acts 2:46–47:
“And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

And commanded in Titus 2:2-8:
“2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.”

HCF Vision

We believe simple, relational gatherings are the heartbeat of biblical discipleship. These meetings are fulfilling what is described in Titus 2 / Acts 2:42, and are designed to be natural extensions of everyday life — not another program, but a return to how the early church “did life” together.
Scriptural Core Elements of Gatherings:

Breaking of Bread – Enjoy a meal or refreshments together
Fellowship – Spiritual conversation and authentic sharing
Apostles’ Doctrine – Discuss God’s Word and how it applies to real life
Prayer – Pray for one another and for the lost

These gatherings can be used in one-on-one (Titus 2), small group, or family settings (Acts 2:46). Keep them simple, joyful, and reproducible so anyone can host them.

Goal

To Join Jesus in the Great Commission of:

WIN a person to Jesus → DISCIPLE a person in Jesus → SEND a person in Jesus

Application Questions from Bible Studies (Wednesday)

Wednesday Bible Study Date: Sept 23, 2026
Bible Study Theme: Ezekiel 13-14

In (Chapter 14) we see that though these elders did not possess the physical idols anymore, they still still harbored them in their heart. It could be said that the idol statues are really only reflections of what is already true of the desires of their heart. Personally consider this statement about idolatry: “An Idol is something you are willing to sin to get, sin to keep, or run to for comfort instead of God” do you see any POTENTIAL for Idols in your heart? Explain, confess and forsake these Idols, and discuss how you can allow the Gospel of Jesus to seize your heart as we discussed in (Vs 5).

Application Questions from Bible Studies (Sunday)

Sunday Bible Study Date: Sept 27, 2026
Bible Study Theme: John 6:60-71 – “Knowing Jesus as the Bread of Life Pt. 5” – (Response to the Bread of Life)

In (Vs 60-65) Jesus challenges His “disciples” to respond to the lesson about the Bread of Life. It seems possible from this passage to be a “disciple” by name, yet not really be walking in Discipleship. Discuss the 3 clarifying statements we talked about and Read (Luke 14:25-43) again. Discuss why Jesus gave such statements and why it is so important for us and Disciples of Jesus to have clarity on where we stand?
In (Vs 66) we see the “Defecting”(Fair weather fan) response to the Bread of Life. Have you ever been in danger yourself of Defecting from Jesus for any reason? Explain, and pray for prodigals you know personally to return as in (Luke 15).
In (Vs 67-69) we see the “Deepening”(On the Team) response to the Bread of Life. Have you yourself ever been tested by Jesus with a “Do you also want to go away” statement, or circumstance? Explain how this led you to deepen your faith with Christ as it did with Peter here who had no plan B (Consider: Do you have ANY plan B instead of Jesus?) Peter understood he needed an ETERNAL instead of a temporary fix from Jesus, and though He didn’t know everything He knew Jesus is it. Explain.
In (Vs 70) Jesus speaks of the “Deceived” response to the gospel. We certainly pray that none of us have made ourselves available as a tool of the enemy in a sense to betray the Lord among His church. Discuss the potential danger of those who come from among the believers and look the part? Discuss (Acts 20:29-32) and how we can avoid Satan's strategy of “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”

(John 6:68) “But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

2. Fellowship / Breaking of Bread (1 John 1:3-10, James 5:13-16)

Are you suffering?
Do you have any praise to be cheerful about?
Do you have any sickness to pray for healing?
Do you have any sin to confess?

3. Prayer – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)

Share how God has answered prayers from our previous gathering and give thanks for His faithfulness. (Review what was written from the previous meeting)
Bear one another’s burdens and pray for one another (write them down)

Send a person for Jesus – (Acts 1:8)

What good works (service in the body of Christ) do you see God preparing you to walk in or have you walked in recently? (Ephesians 2:10) Share and pray about it.
