Questions - John 8 & Psalm 34
Purpose
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)
As explained in Acts 2:46–47:
“And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart… And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”
And commanded in Titus 2:2-8:
“2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.”

HCF Vision
We believe simple, relational gatherings are the heartbeat of biblical discipleship. These meetings are fulfilling what is described in Titus 2 / Acts 2:42, and are designed to be natural extensions of everyday life — not another program, but a return to how the early church “did life” together.
Scriptural Core Elements of Gatherings:
Scriptural Core Elements of Gatherings:
- Breaking of Bread – Enjoy a meal or refreshments together
- Fellowship – Spiritual conversation and authentic sharing
- Apostles’ Doctrine – Discuss God’s Word and how it applies to real life
- Prayer – Pray for one another and for the lost
These gatherings can be used in one-on-one (Titus 2), small group, or family settings (Acts 2:46). Keep them simple, joyful, and reproducible so anyone can host them.
Goal
To Join Jesus in the Great Commission of:
WIN a person to Jesus → DISCIPLE a person in Jesus → SEND a person in Jesus
WIN a person to Jesus → DISCIPLE a person in Jesus → SEND a person in Jesus
Meeting Guide
WIN a person to Jesus – (Mark 16:15)
- Have you had the privilege to share and show the gospel to anyone recently?
- Explain what happened and how we can pray for that person.
DISCIPLE a person in Jesus – (Matthew 28:19-20) (Acts 2:42)

- Through the Bible Reading (John 8:31) – Do you have any thoughts or questions on your “Through the Bible” reading plan?

Bible Study Theme: Psalm 34
Bible Study Theme: Psalm 34
- In 1 Samuel 21:12-13, we see that David feared the king of Gath in his heart, and as a result "changed his behavior before them". The same word for fear is used in Psalm 34:9 "Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him." What are some things we fear in this life that have us acting in foolish ways (see Proverbs 29:25, Matthew 10:28, Galatians 1:10)? How does properly fearing the Lord allow us to walk in Wisdom (Psalm 34:4, 2 Timothy 1:7)?
- The heart of psalm 34 is David's response to answered prayer and deliverance. Are there prayers the Lord has answered in your life recently that you can give Him thanks for? Are there things you should start praying for that you haven't been lately?

Bible Study Theme: “knowing Jesus as Liberator” Part 1- From condemnation
Bible Study Theme: “knowing Jesus as Liberator” Part 1- From condemnation
- In this passage of Scripture on liberation we discussed the effect of the law on both the woman (the sinner Vs 3-5) and the religious leaders (the self righteous Vs 6-9). Both having really the same effect, making their sin obvious and revealing their need for the Liberator. Discuss why it is so essential that the law has its perfect work in our lives in order that we may fully enjoy the grace of God? Explain and share additional Scripture.
- In (Vs 10-11) Jesus offers this woman, and equally the religious leaders (if they would have stuck around in humility) liberation from condemnation. In that first, He silenced the accusers. Have you yourself ever struggled under the accusations of the enemy (Revelation 12:10-11) and how do you respond? How can Jesus’s actions towards this woman teach us how to properly respond to the enemy's accusations of condemnation?
- In (Vs 11), I believe to the surprise of the woman Jesus removes the stones of condemnation from over the woman's head when He says “Neither do I condemn you;. . .” How could Jesus offer this to the woman (Isaiah 53:6-7, John 19:30)? How does it change your focus knowing that you are free from the weight of condemnation? How do you live differently in light of this? Discuss (Romans 8:1, 34)
- In (Vs 11b) Jesus also liberates the woman from a life of condemnation, by not only removing the guilt, but the power of sin in this woman's life. What may be the vicious cycle of someone who receives forgiveness of sins, and yet continues to live in bondage to that sin? Does forgiveness give license to sin? Why or why not? Discuss what this means, and how it changes the way you walk in liberty with Christ. (NOTE: John 8:36, Romans 6:1-2, Romans 8:1-2 and context).
- If you were to take an honest evaluation, which of the three in this story do you see yourself as? Like the woman with stones of guilt hanging over your head? Or like the Pharisees who, in preparing to cast stones at others, bears the burden of self-righteousness? Or Like Jesus who has a right standing before God and instead of throwing stones, takes those stones upon Himself in grace? Explain, and confess to each other, and to Jesus who says “neither do I condemn you” and enjoy liberty this week!!
- Memory Verse (Psalm 119:11):
(John 8:11) "She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.""
2. Fellowship / Breaking of Bread (1 John 1:3-10, James 5:13-16)
- Are you suffering?
- Do you have any praise to be cheerful about?
- Do you have any sickness to pray for healing?
- Do you have any sin to confess?
3. Prayer – (1 Peter 5:7, Gal 6:2)
- Share how God has answered prayers from our previous gathering and give thanks for His faithfulness. (Review what was written from the previous meeting)
- Bear one another’s burdens and pray for one another (write them down)
Send a person for Jesus – (Acts 1:8)
- What good works (service in the body of Christ) do you see God preparing you to walk in or have you walked in recently? (Ephesians 2:10) Share and pray about it.
- Do you see the Lord opening a door for you to share the gospel this week? (Revelation 3:8) Share and pray about it.
